7th and 8th Grade Exploratory Art are both classes where students
learn about different styles and forms of Art.
Students work on projects daily that teach them
techniques and ways in which to create Art.

Clay Ornaments and Christmas Door Decorating
Students were given air dry clay and asked to created art themed ornaments for the classroom Christmas tree. Students also helped me to create our Christmas themed door - All I Want for Christmas is My Hogwarts Letter.

Day of the Dead Masks
During this activity, students were able to create a design for their Day of the Dead mask. Day of the Dead is celebrated on November 2nd every year.
Playoff Pumpkins
Students painted playoff pumpkins to help build school spirit and cheer on our JCHS football team.
Clay Sculptures
During this project students used air dry clay to the create the sculpture that they wanted to design. They waited for them to dry and painted them.
Halloween Jack-o-lantern Watercolor Paintings
During this project, students used watercolor paint to create a sunset spiral background and then add a spooky jack-o-lantern pumpkin scene.

Kindness Rocks!
During this activity, my Exploratory Class got to take part in a rock painting activity through a unity project at our school. Students were given rocks and paint and allowed to decorate them for our future rock garden. The goal was to promote kindness in our school.

Foreshortening Project
During this project, students learned about different perspectives for which a person can be drawn. Students drew themselves as if they were standing on glass and someone was looking up at them.
Egyptian Sarcophagus
During our unit on Egyptians and mummification, students were able to create their own death mask as well as their own sarcophagus.
One Point Perspective Aquariums
During this project, students learned about one point perspective and how to draw lines to make a focal point.
Silhouette Project
During this project, students picked a silhouette that fit with one of their interests. The silhouette is the center focus and the outside of the project is filled with designs that the students picked.
Sculptures from Aluminum Foil
During this project, 7th graders learned about sculptures and how they express emotion and movement. They used their imagination and created a sculpture that showed emotion or movement.
